Answer
Banzai Pipeline
Answer
Banzai Pipeline
The Hawaiian surf break on Oahu famous for powerful hollow waves is Banzai Pipeline.
Banzai Pipeline, usually called Pipeline, is on Oahu’s North Shore in Hawaii. Waves break over a shallow reef, creating steep, hollow tubes that are considered among surfing’s most technically demanding waves. The break is especially prominent during the North Shore’s winter swell season.
The name “Banzai Pipeline” combines the local place name Banzai Beach with the nickname Pipeline. The break has hosted major professional competitions and is strongly associated with high-performance shortboard surfing.
Pipeline is not the same as Teahupo'o in Tahiti, Mavericks in California, or Cloudbreak in Fiji. Those breaks are also internationally famous, but each has different geography, wave shape, and location. Pipeline’s defining visual feature is its powerful barrel breaking over shallow reef near shore.
