What is the name of the governor of the Lone Islands?

The story behind the answer

The governor of the Lone Islands is Governor Gumpas. In C. S. Lewis’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Gumpas governs the islands while they have drifted away from proper Narnian rule.

Gumpas is portrayed as greedy and negligent, allowing the slave trade to flourish despite Narnian law forbidding it. When King Caspian X arrives during the Dawn Treader’s voyage, Caspian discovers the corruption and reasserts Narnia’s authority over the islands.

Caspian deposes Gumpas and appoints Lord Bern, one of the seven missing lords of Narnia, as the new governor. He also gives Bern the title Duke of the Lone Islands and declares the enslaved people free.

A common mix-up is confusing Gumpas with Lord Bern. Gumpas is the old governor; Bern replaces him after Caspian restores the islands to Narnian control. Duke of Galma and King Caspian are also Narnian titles, but neither is the governor named in this episode.
