What is the name of the genie from the lamp in Aladdin?

The story behind the answer

The Genie is the magical being who emerges from Aladdin’s lamp.

In Disney’s 1992 film, Aladdin rubs the lamp while trapped in the Cave of Wonders and summons the blue Genie inside. The character can transform objects, create spectacular displays, and fulfill wishes, but he remains bound to the lamp and must obey its current owner until he is freed.

Robin Williams provided the Genie’s original voice, giving the character a rapid-fire comic style built from impressions, musical references, and improvisation. The Genie became one of Disney’s most recognizable supporting characters and later appeared in the animated series, sequels, stage musical, and live-action adaptation.

Abu is Aladdin’s monkey companion, Iago is Jafar’s parrot, and Jafar is the villainous royal vizier. None of them comes from the lamp. The Genie’s name is simply “Genie” in the animated film, rather than a separate personal name.
