What is the name of the forest where the Ents live?

The Ents live in Fangorn Forest, an ancient woodland in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. The forest lies near the southeastern end of the Misty Mountains, close to Rohan and Isengard.

Fangorn is named after Treebeard, the oldest and most prominent Ent encountered by Merry and Pippin in The Two Towers. “Fangorn” is also Treebeard’s Sindarin name, while the Riders of Rohan call the woodland the Entwood.

The forest is home not only to Ents but also to Huorns, mysterious tree-like beings associated with the Ents. Its deep valleys, thick trunks, and limited sunlight give it an ancient, almost primeval character. The Entwash flows through the region, and Treebeard’s home, Wellinghall, stands within it.

A common mix-up is Lothlórien, which is the realm of Galadriel and Celeborn, not the Ents. The Old Forest is another dangerous woodland near the Shire, while Mirkwood lies much farther east.
