The first single from Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo” is “Famous.”
“Famous” served as the lead single from West’s seventh studio album, “The Life of Pablo.” The song was sent to U.S. radio and released on streaming services on March 28, 2016, after the album’s unusual initial rollout as a Tidal exclusive.
The track became one of the album’s most discussed songs because of its provocative lyrics, its prominent use of a Nina Simone recording, and its controversial references to Taylor Swift. Its production involved West alongside contributors including Havoc, Mike Dean, Hudson Mohawke, Swizz Beatz, and others.
A frequent mix-up is “Ultralight Beam,” which opens “The Life of Pablo” and became one of the album’s best-known tracks, but was not the first single. “Father Stretch My Hands,” including its two parts, was serviced as the album’s second single. “Famous” reached No. 34 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and later earned double-platinum certification.
