The fictional town in the television series Twin Peaks is called Twin Peaks.
Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the series begins when the body of Laura Palmer is discovered near the Washington town of Twin Peaks. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper arrives to investigate, and the murder mystery gradually expands into a surreal story involving secrets, dreams and supernatural forces.
The town’s name is fictional, although the series was filmed largely in Washington state and uses the Pacific Northwest as a major part of its atmosphere. Twin Peaks premiered in 1990 and originally ran for two seasons before returning as Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017. The title therefore names both the setting and the series itself.
