What is the name of the Elvish queen who rules Lothlórien in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings?

The story behind the answer

Galadriel is the Elvish queen who rules Lothlórien in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

Galadriel governs Lothlórien with her husband, Celeborn. The Fellowship of the Ring reaches their woodland realm after escaping Moria, and Galadriel gives the travelers advice, gifts, and spiritual support. She is one of the oldest and most powerful Elves still living in Middle-earth during the War of the Ring.

Galadriel was born in Valinor during the First Age and belongs to the Noldor, though her long history includes different alliances and movements among the Elves. In Tolkien’s mythology, she also possesses one of the Three Rings of the Elves, Nenya, the Ring of Water.

Galadriel is distinct from Arwen, who is the daughter of Elrond and later marries Aragorn. She is also different from Celebrían, Galadriel’s daughter and Arwen’s mother. Galadriel’s role combines royal authority, ancient memory, wisdom, and resistance to the temptation of the One Ring.
