As of 2024, the Lucid Air was the electric car with the longest official driving range.
The record belonged to a specific version: the 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring with 19-inch wheels, which carried an EPA-estimated range of 516 miles on a full charge. Earlier Air configurations had reached an even higher 520-mile EPA rating, but range depends on model year, trim, wheel size, software, and testing procedure.
Lucid achieved this result through a highly efficient electric powertrain, careful aerodynamic design, and a large battery pack. The Air’s low, streamlined body reduces drag, while its compact motors and electrical systems help turn more of the battery’s energy into motion. This combination allowed it to surpass rivals such as the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQS in U.S. EPA-rated range.
The phrase “longest range” needs a standard attached to it. EPA testing is generally more conservative than Europe’s WLTP cycle, and real-world range changes with speed, weather, terrain, passengers, and climate control. Even so, under the commonly cited 2024 U.S. EPA comparison, the Lucid Air was the clear answer.
