What is the name of the drinking song sung by Kings Stefan and Hubert?

The story behind the answer

The drinking song sung by Kings Stefan and Hubert is “Skumps.”

In Sleeping Beauty, the two kings sing “Skumps” while toasting the planned marriage of their children, Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. The scene turns a formal royal discussion into a comic celebration, with the kings enthusiastically drinking and imagining the alliance between their kingdoms.

“Skumps” is easy to confuse with the film’s better-known romantic songs, especially “Once Upon a Dream.” Unlike that duet, “Skumps” belongs to the two fathers and is built around their friendship, wedding plans, and raised glasses. It is also distinct from “Hail to the Princess Aurora,” which is performed by the royal chorus during Aurora’s christening.

George Bruns wrote the music for “Skumps” in the style of Tchaikovsky because he could not find a suitable passage in the ballet source. The lyrics were credited to Tom Adair, Ted Sears, Ed Penner, and Winston Hibler. Taylor Holmes voiced King Stefan, while Bill Thompson voiced King Hubert.
