What is the name of the con artist fox in Zootopia?

The story behind the answer

The con artist fox in Zootopia is named Nick Wilde.

Nick is a red fox who makes a living through scams and hustles when Judy Hopps first meets him. He is quick-witted, sarcastic, and deeply skeptical of institutions, partly because childhood discrimination taught him that others would always see him as untrustworthy simply because he is a fox.

Judy initially treats Nick as a suspect and forces him to help investigate the disappearance of Emmitt Otterton. Their uneasy cooperation gradually becomes a genuine partnership. Nick uses his knowledge of Zootopia’s underworld and his talent for improvisation to help solve the case, while Judy’s determination pushes him to reconsider the limits he has placed on himself.

“Nick Fox” and “Tom Wilde” are not correct names. “Wilde” is Nick’s surname, an intentional reference to the stereotype of the sly fox. By the end of the film, Nick abandons his con-artist career, joins the Zootopia Police Department, and becomes Judy’s partner—the city’s first fox police officer.
