The Chicago Bulls played home games at the United Center during Michael Jordan’s second three-peat.
The arena opened in 1994, replacing Chicago Stadium as the Bulls’ home shortly before Jordan returned from his first retirement. Chicago then won three consecutive championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998, making the United Center the home venue for the latter three titles of Jordan’s career.
The United Center is located just west of Chicago’s downtown Loop and is jointly operated by the Bulls and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. It hosts basketball games on a temporary hardwood floor installed above the hockey ice. The building’s exterior was designed to recall the appearance of the old Chicago Stadium.
A common mix-up is Chicago Stadium, where the Bulls played during their first three-peat from 1991 through 1993. The Bulls moved to the United Center for the 1994–95 season. They clinched the 1996 and 1997 NBA Finals at home there, although they won the 1998 championship in Salt Lake City.
