What is the name of the animated Pixar series featuring Mater’s tall tales?

Mater’s Tall Tales is the name of the animated Pixar series featuring Mater’s stories.

The series is part of Cars Toons, a collection of short animated episodes centered mainly on Mater and Lightning McQueen. Its premise is that Mater recounts extraordinary adventures, often claiming that he played a major role in famous events. The stories are presented with comic exaggeration and are not always treated as literal history within the Cars world.

Mater’s Tall Tales debuted in 2008, after the first Cars feature film. Episodes use short-form storytelling rather than the longer structure of Pixar’s theatrical films. Many stories place Mater in settings or situations far beyond his ordinary life as Radiator Springs’ tow truck.

A common mix-up is using Cars Toons as the answer. Cars Toons is the umbrella title for the shorts collection, while Mater’s Tall Tales is the specific series title associated with Mater’s exaggerated adventures. The series helped extend the characters between theatrical releases.
