Quinceañera is the 1987 Mexican telenovela that helped make Thalía widely known.
The Televisa series starred Adela Noriega and Thalía as teenage friends whose lives are affected by family conflict, romance, class differences, and social expectations. Its title refers to the coming-of-age celebration central to the story’s setting.
Quinceañera became a major success in Mexico and was broadcast in other countries. It is frequently remembered as an important early television role for Thalía, who later became an international pop singer and telenovela star.
The program is not a documentary about quinceañera customs. It is a scripted melodrama using the celebration and the lives of its young characters as narrative elements. It is also separate from the 2006 independent film titled Quinceañera.
