Tesla announced the German factory in November 2019, presenting it as the company’s first manufacturing location in Europe. The site was chosen partly for its access to Berlin, Berlin Brandenburg Airport, major roads and rail connections. Construction began in 2020, and the plant officially opened in March 2022.
