Telegram’s feature that displays web articles without leaving the app is called Instant View.
Instant View was introduced in Telegram version 3.14, released in 2016, alongside Telegraph, Telegram’s publishing platform. It reformats supported web articles into a lightweight, readable page inside Telegram, rather than sending the reader immediately to the original site or a separate browser.
The feature is more than an ordinary link preview. A preview may show a headline, image, and short description, while Instant View can display the article’s text, headings, images, videos, quotations, and other supported content. Telegram caches these pages on its servers, helping them load quickly, including on slower connections.
A common mix-up is “Web Preview,” which describes the standard preview card generated for a link. Instant View appears only when Telegram has a suitable template for that website, so it is not available for every article. Readers can still open the original page in a browser when no Instant View version exists.
