What is the name of Snapchat's web version launched in 2022?

Snapchat's web version launched in 2022 was called Snapchat for Web. It brought core Snapchat communication features to a web browser, allowing users to chat and make audio or video calls from a computer.

Before Snapchat for Web, Snapchat was primarily associated with its Android and iOS mobile apps. The browser version was designed to extend the service to desktops and laptops while keeping the familiar emphasis on camera-based communication, messaging, and visual self-expression.

Snapchat announced Snapchat for Web in September 2022, and the service later became available more broadly. It is accessed through a browser rather than installed as the older Snap Camera desktop application, which provided Snapchat lenses for services such as Zoom and Twitch but was discontinued in January 2023.

A common mix-up is calling it “Snapchat Desktop” or “Snap Web.” Those phrases may describe the concept informally, but Snapchat for Web is the product's official name. The web experience is therefore best understood as a browser-based extension of Snapchat, not a separate social network.
