What is the name of Ridley Scott's brother, also a film director?

The story behind the answer

Ridley Scott’s brother who also became a film director was Tony Scott.

Born Anthony David Leighton Scott, Tony was the younger brother of Ridley Scott and built a major directing career of his own. He made his feature debut with the stylish 1983 vampire film The Hunger, then became especially known for energetic action and thriller films.

Tony Scott directed Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, Days of Thunder, True Romance, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire, Déjà Vu, The Taking of Pelham 123, and Unstoppable. His work often used rapid editing, saturated color, kinetic camera movement, and commercial-inspired visual design.

The brothers were also business partners. They founded Ridley Scott Associates, a film and commercial production company, in 1968, and later formed Scott Free Productions in 1995. Both studied at the Royal College of Art in London and began their careers making commercials before moving into feature filmmaking.

Tony Scott died in 2012. His name is sometimes confused with other members of the wider Scott filmmaking family, including Ridley’s children Jake, Luke, and Jordan, who also became directors.
