What is the name of Ravana's sister?
Answer
Surpanakha
Answer
Surpanakha
Ravana's sister was Surpanakha, also spelled Shurpanakha. She is a rakshasi in the Ramayana and the daughter of the sage Vishrava and the rakshasi Kaikesi. Her brothers include Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Vibhishana, making her part of Lanka's ruling family.
Surpanakha becomes important during Rama's forest exile. At Panchavati, she encounters Rama and proposes to him, but he refuses because he is devoted to Sita. She then approaches Lakshmana and is rejected again. When she attacks Sita, Lakshmana disfigures her by cutting off her nose and ears in the best-known version of the story.
Humiliated, Surpanakha appeals to her relatives Khara and Dushana, whose forces are defeated by Rama. She then tells Ravana about Sita and helps set the events of Sita's abduction in motion. The names in the wrong options are related figures: Kaikesi is Ravana's mother, Mandodari is his chief wife, and Trijata is a rakshasi associated with Sita's captivity.
