What is the name of Rama's wife in the Ramayana?
Answer
Sita
Answer
Sita
Rama’s wife in the Ramayana is Sita.
Sita is the female protagonist of the epic and the consort of Rama, who is traditionally regarded as an incarnation of the god Vishnu. She is also revered as an incarnation of Lakshmi. In the story, Sita is raised by King Janaka of Videha after he discovers her while ploughing a field, and she later marries Rama at her svayamvara.
Sita chooses to accompany Rama into the forest during his 14-year exile, together with Lakshmana. While they are living in the Dandaka forest, the demon king Ravana abducts her and takes her to Lanka. Rama eventually rescues her after a great war, aided by Hanuman and the vanara army.
Readers sometimes confuse Sita with other famous women in Hindu tradition. Parvati is the consort of Shiva, Draupadi is a central heroine of the Mahabharata, and Radha is associated with Krishna. Sita is also known by the names Janaki, Maithili, Vaidehi and Siya.
