What is the name of Qatar's national airline?
Answer
Qatar Airways
Answer
Qatar Airways
Qatar’s national airline is Qatar Airways. It is the country’s flag carrier and is headquartered in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The airline was established in 1993 and began operations in January 1994. After a relaunch in 1997, it expanded rapidly into a major international carrier, connecting Qatar with destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Australia. The airline is owned by the State of Qatar through Qatar Airways Group.
Qatar Airways operates from Hamad International Airport in Doha, which replaced Doha International Airport as the country’s principal international gateway in 2014. Its distinctive logo features the oryx, Qatar’s national animal. The airline is also a member of the oneworld airline alliance, joining in 2013.
A common mix-up is Gulf Air, which is associated primarily with Bahrain and is not Qatar’s national carrier. “Doha Air” and “Qatari Airlines” are not the official names of Qatar’s flag carrier; the canonical name is simply Qatar Airways.
