Pinterest’s augmented-reality try-on feature is called Try On.
Try On lets users preview certain products virtually, especially makeup such as lipstick and eyeshadow, using a camera view or an image from their camera roll. Depending on the product and market, Pinterest has also used the broader label “AR Try On” in its newsroom and shopping announcements.
The feature began with virtual lipstick try-ons in January 2020 and later expanded to eyeshadow and other product categories. Pinterest has also introduced versions for home décor, allowing shoppers to visualize furniture or décor in their own space before buying.
A common mix-up is Pinterest Lens. Lens is Pinterest’s visual-search and camera technology, and it can provide an entry point to Try On, but Lens itself is not the name of the augmented-reality try-on feature. Availability also varies by country and by whether a product is Try On-enabled.
