What is the name of Paul McCartney's music publishing company?
Answer
MPL Communications
Answer
MPL Communications
Paul McCartney’s music publishing company is MPL Communications, short for McCartney Productions Ltd.
MPL is the umbrella company for McCartney’s business interests and music-publishing activities. It was established in 1969, initially under the name Adagrove Limited, and was renamed McCartney Productions Ltd. later that year. The company grew beyond handling McCartney’s own work and became one of the world’s largest privately owned music publishers.
Its catalogue extends well beyond Beatles and Wings material. MPL has acquired or administered songs associated with writers and performers including Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Jerry Herman, Frank Loesser and Harold Arlen. That broad catalogue makes MPL a publishing business as well as a vehicle for McCartney’s creative and commercial projects.
Apple Corps is a different organization: it was founded by the Beatles to manage various business ventures. EMI was the record company historically associated with many Beatles releases, while Sony Music is a major modern music corporation. Neither is McCartney’s publishing company. MPL also acquired rights to some early Lennon–McCartney songs after McCartney’s long-running publishing dispute was resolved.
