What is the name of Paul McCartney's first wife?
Answer
Linda McCartney
Answer
Linda McCartney
Paul McCartney’s first wife was Linda McCartney, formerly Linda Eastman.
The couple married on March 12, 1969, at Marylebone Register Office in London, shortly before the Beatles’ final years as an active band. Linda was an American photographer who had become well known for her candid portraits of musicians, including a celebrated photograph of the Rolling Stones. After marrying Paul, she became an important creative partner in his post-Beatles career.
Linda joined Paul’s new band Wings as its keyboard player and vocalist. Although she was initially criticized by some reviewers because she was not a traditionally trained keyboardist, Wings became one of the most successful rock groups of the 1970s, recording albums such as Band on the Run and Venus and Mars.
The answer is sometimes confused with Jane Asher, who was McCartney’s longtime fiancée before Linda, or Heather Mills, whom he married after Linda’s death. Nancy Shevell is McCartney’s third wife. Linda and Paul remained married until Linda died from breast cancer in 1998. She was also a prominent advocate of vegetarianism and animal-rights causes.
