What is the name of J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s novel about Jack and a magical toy pig?

J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s novel about Jack and a magical toy pig is The Christmas Pig.

Published by Hachette Children’s Group in October 2021, the book follows Jack, whose favorite toy, Dur Pig, goes missing on Christmas Eve. A replacement toy pig comes to life and guides Jack into the Land of the Lost, where missing things can be found.

The story is separate from the Harry Potter universe and is not a sequel to Rowling’s earlier children’s books. Its themes include friendship, loss, memory, and the emotional importance people attach to ordinary possessions.

Readers sometimes confuse The Christmas Pig with The Ickabog, another standalone children’s book by Rowling. The Ickabog was published in 2020 and is a political fairy tale, while The Christmas Pig centers on a child’s search for a lost toy during the Christmas season.
