Lisa Cuddy is House’s hospital administrator in the early seasons of House, M.D.
Cuddy is the dean of medicine and administrator of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. She oversees budgets, staffing, policies, and patient-care standards while also trying to manage House’s frequent rule-breaking. Her authority creates an ongoing professional conflict with House, whose diagnostic results often persuade her to tolerate behavior she would otherwise punish.
Lisa Edelstein played Cuddy throughout the first seven seasons. Cuddy and House have a long, complicated relationship that develops from workplace antagonism into romance and then personal conflict. The character’s medical leadership also distinguishes her from the doctors who primarily diagnose patients.
Stacy Warner is House’s former partner and a hospital lawyer, not the administrator. Allison Cameron is a member of House’s diagnostic team, while Amber Volakis is a doctor who competes for a place on that team. These characters are connected to House but hold different roles.
