What is the name of Diablo II’s desert city and Act II hub?

Lut Gholein is Diablo II’s desert city and the hub for Act II.

After completing the opening act, players travel east to Lut Gholein, a fortified port on the edge of the deserts of Aranoch. The city provides vendors, a stash, a healer, a waypoint, and quest characters who guide the hunt for the Prime Evils.

Act II sends the player into locations such as the Dry Hills, Far Oasis, Lost City, and Canyon of the Magi. The act culminates in the Tal Rasha’s Tomb sequence and the battle with Duriel.

Lut Gholein is often confused with Kurast, the jungle city used as Diablo II’s Act III hub, or Caldeum, a major desert city in Diablo III. They belong to different games and different points in Sanctuary’s history.
