What is the name of C.S. Lewis’s science-fiction novel about Elwin Ransom’s journey to Malacandra?

C.S. Lewis’s novel about Elwin Ransom’s journey to Malacandra is Out of the Silent Planet.

Published in 1938, Out of the Silent Planet is the first book of Lewis’s Space Trilogy, also called the Ransom Trilogy. The protagonist, Elwin Ransom, is kidnapped and taken aboard a spacecraft bound for Mars, which the inhabitants call Malacandra.

The story combines planetary adventure with Christian and philosophical themes. Lewis developed the trilogy partly in conversation with fellow writer J.R.R. Tolkien, who encouraged him to write science fiction while Lewis encouraged Tolkien to pursue a time-travel story. The later books are Perelandra, published in 1943, and That Hideous Strength, published in 1945.
