What is the name of C.S. Lewis’s final Narnia novel?
Answer
The Last Battle
Answer
The Last Battle
The Last Battle is C.S. Lewis’s final Narnia novel.
Published in 1956, The Last Battle concludes The Chronicles of Narnia. The story centers on deception in Narnia, a false representation of Aslan, and a final conflict involving the kingdom’s inhabitants. King Tirian is the last reigning monarch of Narnia in the narrative.
The book won the Carnegie Medal in 1957, recognizing it as the outstanding children’s book of the previous year. Its ending presents the destruction of the old Narnia and the entry of the faithful characters into a deeper, more complete Narnia.
Although it is the final book in publication order, some reading guides place The Magician’s Nephew first because that novel describes Narnia’s creation. The Last Battle remains the canonical concluding volume and gives the series its strongest apocalyptic and theological imagery.
