Columbia’s high-performance apparel line introduced in 1998 was Titanium. The line was positioned as the company’s premium technical offering, aimed at demanding outdoor activities where performance, durability, and weather protection mattered most.
Titanium belongs to Columbia’s long-running family of branded technologies and product platforms. It is associated with advanced materials and construction rather than with a metal used literally throughout the garment. The name signals lightweight strength and technical performance, which is why it has appeared on jackets, shells, pants, and other outdoor equipment.
A common mix-up is treating Titanium as a later technology such as Omni-Heat. Titanium dates to 1998, while Omni-Heat thermal-reflective technology was introduced in 2010 and focuses specifically on retaining body warmth. Columbia also uses names such as Omni-Tech, Omni-Grip, and OutDry for other performance features, but those are separate technologies from the Titanium apparel line.
