What is the name of Chun-Li's rapid kick technique in Street Fighter?

The story behind the answer

Chun-Li’s rapid kick technique in Street Fighter is called the Lightning Kick.

Its Japanese name is Hyakuretsukyaku, meaning “Hundred Rending Legs.” Chun-Li repeatedly presses a kick button to unleash a rapid flurry of kicks while standing in place. The attack became one of her defining techniques because it gives her exceptional close-range pressure and reflects her emphasis on speed and leg strength.

Players sometimes call it “Lightning Legs,” especially in later games and English-language move lists. That name refers to the same basic technique, but “Lightning Kick” is the classic English name used in the original Street Fighter II era. It should not be confused with Chun-Li’s Spinning Bird Kick, an upside-down spinning attack performed by charging downward and then pressing upward with a kick.

Chun-Li debuted in Street Fighter II in 1991 as the series’ first major female playable fighter. Her fast attacks and distinctive kicking style helped make her one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
