What is the name of America250’s nationwide student contest about the meaning of America?

The story behind the answer

America’s Field Trip is America250’s nationwide student contest about the meaning of America.

The program invites students in grades 3 through 12 to respond to the question, “What does America mean to you?” Students can submit writing and artwork, turning the anniversary into an educational and creative project rather than only a series of public ceremonies.

America’s Field Trip is one of several America250 initiatives, each with a different purpose. America Gives focuses on volunteer service, Our American Story collects personal histories, and America’s Soundtrack explores music connected with the national story. The names are related, but they are not interchangeable.

Awardees can receive distinctive educational experiences at historic, cultural, and natural sites. The program is intended to encourage young people to interpret American history and identity in their own voices. It also creates a record of how students viewed the country during its 250th-anniversary year.
