What is the name of Amazon's program for independent delivery contractors?
Answer
Amazon Flex
Answer
Amazon Flex
Amazon Flex is Amazon’s program for independent delivery contractors.
Amazon Flex uses a smartphone app to connect individuals with delivery work. Participants generally use their own vehicles to deliver packages and other orders, operating as independent contractors rather than as Amazon employees. Routes or delivery “blocks” can include ordinary Amazon.com parcels as well as time-sensitive services and, in some markets, grocery deliveries.
The program is different from Amazon Logistics. Amazon Logistics primarily works with small businesses known as Delivery Service Partners, which operate fleets of branded vans and employ drivers. Amazon Flex, by contrast, is designed around individual drivers using personal vehicles. Amazon Prime is a customer subscription and shipping-benefits program, while Amazon Fresh is a grocery service; neither is the name of the contractor platform.
Flex is one part of Amazon’s broader last-mile network. Packages can also move through Amazon’s warehouses and delivery stations, independent delivery businesses, the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, and other carriers. Availability, eligibility, pay arrangements, and delivery types can vary by location and may change over time, so the program’s exact conditions are not universal.
