What is the name of Aladdin’s pet monkey? Aladdin’s pet monkey is Abu.

Abu is Aladdin’s small, kleptomaniac companion in the 1992 Disney film. He helps Aladdin survive as a street thief, shares his hiding place and often joins him on dangerous adventures, including the journey into the Cave of Wonders.

Abu does not speak conventional dialogue in the original film. His vocal effects were provided by Frank Welker, who also supplied the vocal effects for Jasmine’s tiger Rajah and the Cave of Wonders. Abu’s expressive gestures and comic timing make him a central part of the film’s ensemble.

The character was inspired in part by the thief Abu from the 1940 film The Thief of Bagdad. In the 2019 live-action adaptation, Abu is depicted as a tufted capuchin rather than the animated character’s stylized monkey design. Carpet is Aladdin’s magical flying rug, while Rajah belongs to Jasmine.
