What is the maximum number of players in a single Apex Legends match?

The story behind the answer

The maximum number of players in a standard Apex Legends match is 60.

A full battle royale lobby can contain up to 60 individual players. In the classic squad format, those players are divided into 20 teams of three, although the exact number can vary when players leave, fail to connect, or when a special mode uses different team rules.

The 60-player structure is part of Apex Legends’ identity as a squad-based battle royale. Each team drops onto the map, searches for weapons and equipment, survives the closing ring, and competes to be the last squad standing. The match’s tactical rhythm comes from balancing loot, rotations, and fights against as many as 19 other squads.

The number is sometimes confused with other battle royale games that use 100-player lobbies. Apex Legends has also offered Duos, limited-time modes, Mixtape modes, and private matches with different structures, but 60 remains the standard maximum associated with its main battle royale match.
