What is the male form of quinceañera traditionally called?

The story behind the answer

The traditional male form of quinceañera is quinceañero.

Quinceañero is used for a boy who is honored at a similar fifteenth-birthday celebration. The feminine form, quinceañera, is much more widely recognized because the tradition historically centered on girls and young women.

Contemporary celebrations are not identical everywhere. Families may adapt the format for boys, for groups of siblings, or for young people whose identities and preferences do not fit older gendered expectations. Some events retain formal clothing and ceremonial elements, while others are primarily parties.

The terms describe the honoree, not one mandatory type of ceremony. A quinceañero celebration can therefore differ substantially in its music, religious components, attendants, and symbolic customs.
