Answer
Common ostrich
Answer
Common ostrich
The common ostrich is the largest living land bird found in Africa’s savannas. Adult males can reach about 2.75 metres in height and weigh more than 100 kilograms.
Ostriches cannot fly, but their powerful legs make them exceptional runners. They have two toes on each foot, an unusual arrangement among living birds, and can use the larger inner toe for speed and defense. Their long neck provides a wide view across open habitats.
The common ostrich lays large eggs in a communal nest scraped into the ground. Several females may contribute eggs, and the dominant female and male share incubation duties. Ostriches are omnivorous, eating plants and small animals, and they swallow stones to help grind food.
