What is the highest point in Africa?

The highest point in Africa is Mount Kilimanjaro, specifically Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcanic massif in northern Tanzania, close to the border with Kenya. It consists of three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. Uhuru Peak lies on Kibo's crater rim, making Kibo the summit-bearing cone. Kilimanjaro is also the world's highest free-standing mountain.

Unlike many of the world's highest peaks, Kilimanjaro does not belong to a major mountain range. Its great height rises dramatically from the surrounding plateau, creating several ecological zones, from cultivated foothills and rainforest to alpine desert and the icy summit region.

The first recorded ascent of the summit was made on October 6, 1889, by Hans Meyer, Ludwig Purtscheller and their local guide Yohanas Kinyala Lauwo. A frequent mistake is to answer Mount Kenya: it is Africa's second-highest mountain, not the highest.
