Each minaret of the Taj Mahal is about 40 meters tall. The four slender towers stand at the corners of the marble mausoleum’s raised plinth in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

The minarets are architectural features associated with mosques, traditionally used by the muezzin to call Muslims to prayer. At the Taj Mahal, they also create a carefully balanced frame around the central dome and tomb building. Each tower is divided into sections by balconies and topped with a small domed pavilion, or chhatri.
