Answer
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Answer
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Assassin's Creed's first playable historical protagonist is Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. He is the central historical character in the 2007 game, where players follow his missions during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land.
Altaïr begins the story as a highly ranked Assassin whose arrogance leads to a disastrous mission. After being demoted by his mentor Al Mualim, he must complete a series of investigations and assassinations in cities including Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. His campaign gradually reveals a deeper conflict involving the Templars and a powerful artifact.
Altaïr is sometimes mistaken for Ezio Auditore because Ezio became the most prominent early protagonist and appears in three major games. Altaïr, however, predates Ezio and is the character who established the series' original Assassin Brotherhood, hidden-blade, and memory-based narrative foundations.
