The character is introduced in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with the famous description that there was “a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb.” He is the cousin of Edmund, Lucy, Peter, and Susan Pevensie, although his personality initially makes him a difficult companion. His parents are Harold and Alberta Scrubb.

Eustace appears in three Narnia novels: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle. In his first story, he is transformed into a dragon, an experience that forces him to confront his selfishness.
