What is the final song on Metallica's 1991 album, The Black Album?
Answer
The Struggle Within
The Struggle Within is the final song on Metallica's 1991 album, The Black Album.
It appears as track 12, following The God That Failed, My Friend of Misery, and the other songs in the album's standard sequence. Its placement gives the record a forceful closing statement after the more widely known singles.
The song was written by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, with lyrics by Hetfield. Its subject is internal conflict, matching the album's broader mixture of personal, social, and psychological themes.
The Struggle Within is sometimes overlooked because it was not one of the album's five commercial singles. However, it is an important part of the original track listing and is specifically identified as the album's closing track.
