What is the fictional organization that the heroes originally belonged to?

The story behind the answer

What is the fictional organization that the heroes originally belonged to? The organization is Overwatch, an international task force created to defend humanity during the Omnic Crisis. In the game’s fictional history, the United Nations assembled Overwatch after conventional national forces failed to stop hostile robots produced by automated omnium facilities.

The group brought together soldiers, scientists, engineers, and other specialists. Gabriel Reyes and Jack Morrison were appointed its original leaders; they later became the masked figures Reaper and Soldier: 76. Other notable members included Tracer, Mercy, Reinhardt, Ana, Torbjörn, and Winston.

Overwatch succeeded in helping end the Omnic Crisis and continued operating as an international peacekeeping force. It eventually became controversial, however, amid accusations of misconduct, internal conflict, and political opposition. The organization was disbanded after the Swiss headquarters was destroyed in an explosion blamed on a confrontation between Reyes and Morrison.

Blackwatch was not the original organization: it was Overwatch’s covert operations division, led by Reyes. Talon is a separate criminal organization, while Deadlock is an outlaw gang associated with characters such as Cassidy.
