What is the distinctive horn arrangement of an African kudu called?

The story behind the answer

The distinctive horn arrangement of an African kudu is called spiral horns. Only male kudus grow these long, corkscrew-like horns, which can form two or even two and a half twists.

Greater kudu males have especially impressive horns, sometimes reaching about 120 centimetres along the curve. The horns may help males compete with rivals and display their condition. Females usually lack horns, making sex identification easier in the field.

Kudus are browsers that feed on leaves, shoots, flowers and fruit. The greater kudu and lesser kudu occupy different parts of Africa, with the greater kudu widespread in eastern and southern regions and the lesser kudu associated mainly with eastern Africa.
