What is the current name of the company that manages the Pokémon franchise?
Answer
The Pokémon Company
Answer
The Pokémon Company
The current name of the company that manages the Pokémon franchise is The Pokémon Company.
The organization began as Pokémon Center Co., Ltd. in April 1998. It was created through a joint investment by Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak to operate Pokémon Center merchandise stores in Japan. In October 2000, it expanded its responsibilities to cover the broader franchise and adopted its current name.
The Pokémon Company handles brand management, licensing, marketing, publishing, and coordination across games, cards, animation, films, merchandise, and other products. Its president and CEO is Tsunekazu Ishihara, who was also an important producer during Pokémon's early development.
The Pokémon Company International is a subsidiary that manages many activities outside Asia, so the two names are related but not interchangeable. Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak remain the three companies associated with ownership of the core Pokémon property in Japan.
