What is the capital city of Qatar?
Answer
Doha
Answer
Doha
The capital city of Qatar is Doha.
Doha is located on Qatar's east coast beside the Persian Gulf and serves as the country's political, commercial, and cultural center. Government ministries, major businesses, universities, museums, and Hamad International Airport are concentrated in or around the metropolitan area. The city is also the seat of Qatar's national government and the emir's principal urban residence.
Doha developed from a small coastal settlement and was formally established as a town in the 19th century. Its growth accelerated dramatically after Qatar's oil and natural-gas wealth transformed the country. Modern Doha combines traditional markets such as Souq Waqif with high-rise districts, large sports venues, and the Museum of Islamic Art.
Doha hosted the 2006 Asian Games and became internationally prominent as Qatar prepared for and hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It is sometimes confused with Al Rayyan, a neighboring municipality within the wider urban area, but Doha is the official capital and the country's principal city.
