China’s Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge is approximately 164.8 kilometres long.
The bridge forms part of the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway and runs through Jiangsu Province in eastern China. It opened in 2011, when the railway began operation. Its extraordinary length allows the route to cross low-lying terrain, waterways, rice paddies, lakes, and other soft-ground areas.
The structure is generally described as the world’s longest bridge of any kind. Much of it is an elevated viaduct rather than a single dramatic span over one obstacle. This distinction matters: the bridge’s record comes from its total continuous length, not from having the world’s longest unsupported span.
It is also commonly confused with the nearby Yangcheng Lake Grand Bridge, another major structure on the same high-speed railway. Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge is the longer and globally recognized record-holder.
