What is Tenor's main product called?

The story behind the answer

Tenor’s main product is called GIF Keyboard.

Tenor began as Riffsy, a GIF-search and sharing company founded in 2014 by David McIntosh, Erick Hachenburg, and Frank Nawabi. The company renamed itself Tenor in 2016 as it expanded beyond a single keyboard app and promoted GIFs as a form of emotional search.

GIF Keyboard was designed to let people find and share animated GIFs directly from mobile keyboards. It became available on Android, iOS, and macOS, while Tenor also provided tools for developers to add GIF search to other apps. This is why Tenor is sometimes described both as a GIF database and as a keyboard product.

A common mix-up is confusing Tenor with Gboard. Gboard is Google’s broader virtual-keyboard app, while GIF Keyboard is Tenor’s named product. Google acquired Tenor in 2018, but the Tenor brand continued operating separately.
