What is Scooby-Doo's full name?

The story behind the answer

Scooby-Doo’s full name is Scoobert Doo. “Scooby-Doo” is the familiar nickname used by the talking Great Dane and the name that became the title of the franchise.

Scooby is portrayed as Shaggy Rogers’ lifelong companion and as a member of the Mystery Inc. gang. Although he is a dog, the character behaves much like a human friend: he speaks, understands the gang’s plans, helps investigate clues, and often participates in elaborate disguises and chase scenes.

The full name is easy to confuse with related character names. Scrappy-Doo is Scooby’s nephew, not his formal name, while “Scooby Doo” without the hyphen is simply a spelling variation of the nickname. The character first appeared in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, which premiered in 1969 and launched one of animation’s longest-running mystery franchises.
