What is Argentina’s highest mountain?
Answer
Aconcagua
Answer
Aconcagua
Aconcagua is Argentina’s highest mountain.
Aconcagua rises to about 6,961 metres in the Andes, in Mendoza Province near Argentina’s border with Chile. It is the highest mountain in both the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
Although Aconcagua is extremely high, it is not generally considered a technically difficult mountain by Himalayan standards. Its normal route is non-technical, but altitude, storms, cold, and severe winds make climbing it dangerous.
A common mix-up is Ojos del Salado, which is the highest volcano in the world and lies on the Argentina–Chile border. Aconcagua is part of the Principal Cordillera of the Andes and attracts climbers from around the world.
