Aragorn’s sword in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is called Andúril.
Andúril is the reforged form of Narsil, the sword that belonged to Elendil. Narsil broke when Elendil fell during the battle against Sauron at the end of the Second Age. Its broken blade was later inherited by Isildur, who used the hilt-shard to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand.
In The Lord of the Rings, the sword is reforged before Aragorn leaves Rivendell. Elrond gives it the name Andúril, meaning “Flame of the West.” The weapon symbolizes Aragorn’s royal heritage and his claim as heir of Isildur.
Glamdring and Orcrist are different famous swords from Tolkien’s legendarium. Glamdring belonged to Gandalf, while Orcrist was carried by Thorin Oakenshield. Herugrim was the sword of King Théoden of Rohan.
